HERE WE ARE. It’s a long story. BUT FIRST! This (last) week’s guest art!

This incredible guest comic is brought to you by Justin L, the creator of one of our very favorite web comics, Loki. We can’t recommend Loki enough — it’s got everything we love. Adventure, chase scenes, pseudo-cowboys, shirtlessness, queerosity and crossdressing wrapped up in bright colors and some fantastic art, character design and stylization. It’s also got that special ingredient that we’re always looking for — a great story with some characters who are incidentally gay while not being a comic ABOUT being gay. We need more of those in the world. Also, if you’re a One Piece fan, it has something we like to call the OP Factor — you can always tell when a comic artist is influenced by Eichiro Oda (and those are the ones we like best. >_>) You can check out Justin’s stuff on Tumblr or DeviantArt but most importantly GO READ LOKI!!!!

Speaking of amazing comics with awesome stories and gay characters, our good friend Alex who writes Artifice is running a Kickstarter to raise funds for a print version of his comic! If you haven’t read Artifice, you definitely should (so long as you’re over 18.) It’s a fantastic sci-fi story with gay overtones and the artist, Winona, is amazingly talented. We can’t wait to see Artifice in print form!

Now that we’ve got that over with, here’s what’s been going on with us and why we’ve been off the radar since our last update. As you may have read, we’ve been in the middle of a relocation from San Diego to the San Fran Bay Area. The plan was that we would be here last Friday, getting unpacked with internet ready for us! Unfortunately, we ran into problem after problem during the move. Where to start. First off, the truck we got ended up being about six feet short of being able to transport all of our ridiculous stuff (mostly tubs upon tubs of fabric, costumes and props from our long cosplay careers). We ended up having to leave a sad amount of crap in Dusty’s mom’s storage unit in SD. When we finally got the truck loaded, we went to close it and a wheel popped out of the track for the door. We had to unload a bunch of stuff so Dusty’s brother could climb in and fix it. Once we FINALLY got on the road for the 9 to 11 hour drive, we’d been set back a good five or six hours. JD and I made our way up the coast with our car shoved full of literally as much stuff as we could POSSIBLY fit into it. We’re talking things crammed in every possible nook and cranny — not to mention the bearded dragon, fish, two cats and collection of carnivorous plants. Meanwhile my wonderful little brother drove the truck up for us. Except that halfway through the drive, he came down with the flu and he and my mother had to stop overnight while he let his fever pass.

We finally made it to the house which is QUITE amazing and we are very happy to be here! We’re having a big upgrade with lots more space and the cats are so delighted to have room to run around. (The old lady, Myst, has been scampering around like a kitten. It’s pretty adorable.) However, the last bit of bad news for us was that something went wrong while they were hooking up our internet. It was supposed to be up and running when we arrived but instead, we’re not going to have any internet until WEDNESDAY. At the moment, I’m working from my tethered cel phone while JD is away to work on school at family’s house for the next several days. FUN STUFF.

Unfortunately, with all these complications, we’re going to have to take another week off for hiatus. We’ve got some more guest art coming to hold you over though, which we’ll post next Monday and THEN we’ll be back March 23rd. Sorry to leave you guys hanging!

In the meantime, we’ll be in Hawaii this weekend! Or I will anyway. Sadly, to save money after the move, JD is staying home for this year’s Kawaii Kon. It’s our fourth year at Kawaii Kon and it’s become one of our favorite cons so hope to see lots of you Hawaiians this year!
