HOLY SMOKES IT’S BEEN QUITE A WEEK FOR ME.
Before I go into the characteristic boring and semi-lucid rant, I must apologize for the fact that we’ve only been able to get you folks a single page of MSF for the last two weeks. This past weekend I took a trip out to Chicago to attend Wizard World Comic Con out there, marking our first REAL comic book convention. As you may know, we were at SDCC this year for the first time. We’ve attended the convention for four years running but this year was our first time in the artist alley which we pretty much mucked up for the two days that we were able to get a table. Wizard World on the other hand, we were able to bring the full booth set up and test the comic book convention scene for our badges and shoving MSF post cards into unsuspecting citizen’s hands.
The good news is, the trip went quite well so you can expect a lot more show dates from us next year, especially since we’re on the verge of winding up chapter 1 of MSF which means with any luck we’ll have our first edition print version of the comic available before the end of the year.
And now, a few recommendations for you purveyors of the internet and your scrabbling minds hungry for content. TL;DR: CHECK THIS SHIT OUT.
First off, you MUST check out OhGoodie.net and read SP Burke’s comic. His sense of style and humor have us tickled and I may or may not personally be completely smitten with his character, Koriko. We’ll be doing an art trade with SP in the future so you can look forward to some delightful adaptations of our boys. :3
Secondly, I cannot urge you strongly enough to take a look at the art of Kevin Bandt. His comic, The Carriers, is available online but I would really suggest you drop a few bucks and pick up a print version of it. I had the pleasure of reading the first two chapters of The Carriers in Chicago and Kevin’s art is absolutely stunning. His sense of color really resonates with me and so does his character design. I can’t wait to see more of this story as it unfolds.
And last but hardly least, if you want a good hard laugh, go harass the boys over at ObjectsOfAmusement.com. They had me at Running Gag.
In other convention related news, I had the pleasure of meeting the gang at Anime Reactions TV, a local segment on Chicago’s public access TV that is all about (HURDUR) anime! I got in an interview with them that I believe should be on their next segment. Whenever I see it online I’ll toss a link up here.
In the world of my own personal FANSPAZZING, I was lucky enough to catch the ear of one Echo Chernik and pick up a few of her incredible prints. I’ve been a huge fan of Echo’s work for years now and I now am delighted to have my own copy of the Spirit of Navigation over my workspace. 😀 If you’re at FanExpo in Canada this weekend, be sure to check her out as she is a guest there!
In other, non-con related news (not THAT kind of non-con), I’ve finally gotten around to setting up a Facebook account for us in spite of the fact that Facebook is my natural enemy. I’ve been a ‘computer person’ for about fifteen years, since I was twelve. But for some reason Facebook has managed to stay some bizarre, unfathomable enigma to me without all the magic of a unicorn of Rubik’s cube.  But for those of you who enjoy using the Facebooks (as I completely and utterly both date myself and flagrantly display my ineptitude) we are there and will be updating that, barring me somehow managing to break all of our computers with the cumbersome tool.
I could go on and on blathering about travel woes and the process of cleaning our house and building a new web page but this has been a pretty wordy blog so instead I’ll sooth your aching eyes and brains with pictures of adorable kittens.
Oh ho ho! Getting him mad ain’t gunna help. 😛
Oh geeze, I can only imagine what’s going to happen next to poor Mike. D:
